Dr. David Zagzag is a renowned Neuropathologist and a Professor of Pathology and Neurosurgery with extensive experience, a commitment to excellence and a passion for advancing our knowledge that hopefully will have important and meaningful impact on patient care. Dr. David Zagzag is a distinguished academic and medical professional holding multiple prestigious positions at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Serving as a Professor in both the Department of Pathology and the Department of Neurosurgery. He also holds the esteemed position as the Chief of the Division of Neuropathology. where Dr. Zagzag leads and guides research and clinical efforts in the field and brings a wealth of expertise and experience to his roles with an ultimate goal to markedly improve patients’ outcome, at least in part, by sharing his dedication, expertise and insights through his blog.
In addition to his teaching and clinical responsibilities, Dr. Zagzag also plays an important role helping overseeing the collection and preservation of vital specimens for research purposes. His dedication to advancing knowledge in the field of neuro-oncology is further evidenced by his role as Director of the Microvascular and Molecular Neuro-Oncology Laboratory, where he spearheads innovative research initiatives aimed at a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms implicated in brain tumors and motivated by the development of novel therapeutic approaches for patients affected by brain tumors.
Dr. Zagzag's qualifications are exemplary, holding board certifications from the American Board of Pathology in both Neuropathology and Anatomic Pathology. He completed his fellowship in Neuropathology at NYU Medical Center in 1992, following a residency in Surgical Pathology at the same institution in 1990. Prior to his residency, Dr. Zagzag earned his Ph.D. from McGill University in 1988, laying the foundation for his distinguished career in academic medicine, Neurosciences, Neuro-oncology and Neuropathology.
